Kabul City Discovery

Taq-e Zafar, also called the Victory Arch, is a monumental structure in Paghman, a district west of Kabul. It was built to commemorate Afghanistan’s independence from Britain in 1919 after the Third Anglo-Afghan War.

Babur Garden, known locally as Bagh-e Babur, is a historic terraced garden in Kabul, originally laid out in the early 16th century by Emperor Babur, the founder of the Mughal dynasty. It is one of the oldest and most important surviving gardens from the Mughal era in Afghanistan.

Wazir Akbar Khan Tapa is a hill and neighborhood in northern Kabul, named after the Afghan leader Wazir Akbar Khan (1816–1847). It is known for its scenic views of Kabul, its parkland, and its historic role as a diplomatic and residential district.

Paghman Palace, or Paghman Hill Castle, built in 2013–2014 in west Kabul, is a cultural landmark featuring Afghan marble, woodwork, and traditional décor. Surrounded by gardens and waterfalls, it hosts events and symbolizes a blend of modern architecture with Afghan heritage.

Darul Aman Palace, built in the 1920s by King Amanullah Khan in neoclassical style, was intended for Afghanistan’s parliament. Damaged by decades of war, it was restored (2016–2019) and now stands as a symbol of the nation’s history and resilience.

Bala Hissar, a fortress in Kabul over 1,500 years old, was expanded by the Mughals and later used in the Anglo-Afghan wars. Though damaged in conflicts, it endures as a symbol of Kabul’s military and political history.
